To provide leadership and support to reduce the loss of life and property and protect our county's institutions from all types of hazards through a comprehensive, risk-based, all-hazards emergency management program of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.
The job of the Emergency manager is defined by law. It does howerver, have a moral basis. The emergency manager must balance the duties authorized and required by law with the moral obligation of the public employee to do everything possible to protect and preserve the safety of citizens in the city and county.
Emergency Management expresses a strong committment to provide interagency cooperation and coordiation of activities relating to mitigation of, prevention of, preparedness for, response to, and recovery from distasters and emergencies.
Hamilton County has a full time Director and a Part time Deputy Director.
The CodeRed™ system provides free weather warning information to residents and allows emergency officials the ability to provide pre-recorded emergency telephone notification/information messages to targeted areas or the entire county. Residents and businesses located within the county are encouraged to sign up for CodeRed™ to be sure they receive timely emergency notifications, weather warnings, and other information when alerts are issued.
